LONDON, UK - Ex-F1 driver and current Porsche factory team star Mark Webber was seen on a night out in London with French Open winner Maria Sharapova.
Fresh from his drive in the Le Mans 24 Hours, Webber turned up to a red carpet event with the lanky tennis champ.
The two happened to be partners for an evening not because they are dating, however. The link between them is Porsche, for whom Sharapova is an ambassador. Webber, of course, drove a Porsche 919 Hybrid at the grueling 24-hour race. He retired from a front-running position during his final stint.
Maybe the perenially luckless driver had a better time of it when doing chauffeur duties for Sharapova, driving her in a 918 Spyder to the Women’s Tennis Association pre-Wimbledon dinner.

With 887bhp (608bhp of which is from a 4.6-litre V8 petrol engine with the rest from two electric motors), the hybrid supercar is Porsche’s most powerful road car, ever. It tops out at more than 325km/h and can blitz to 100km/h in just 2.6 seconds.

More importantly for Porsche’s pride, it is the fastest production car in the world around the fearsome Nurburgring circuit, lapping the place in 6 minutes 57 seconds.
But it’s also a zero-emissions electric car when you want it to be, with a battery-only range of 29km.
Sharapova declared its electric drive system “great”, while Webber said the 918 Hybrid is the closest possible thing to his Le Mans racer.
