The BR-V is a three-row seven-seater based on the Mobilio. But is it headed for our market?
HONDA HAS REVEALED this concept vehicle for the Indonesia market, with the intention to produce and sell it there.
The BR-V (for "Bold Runabout Vehicle") is based on the underpinnings of the Mobilio (itself based on a modified Jazz platform) but has elevated suspension and crossover styling.
That being so, there's a 1.5-litre engine and CVT hauling the lot around. But its Mobilio origins also mean it has seven seats; think of it as a marriage between the style and tall ride of an HR-V and the utility of a Mobilio.
At the moment the vehicle is still in the prototype stages but there's every chance it will eventually go on sale in Singapore. A Kah Motor source said that the company has no formal comment on the BR-V's availability here, but it's definitely on their radar.
Honda Indonesia will show it off in the flesh at an upcoming motor show in August there. The Japanese automaker operates joint-venture factories there with the capacity to build 180,000 cars. Increasingly, cars from plants there are designated for export markets, of which Singapore is one.
Would you like to see the BR-V join the Honda range here?
