If you're a Porsche lover, here's why you have to spend tomorrow at Suntec...
SINGAPORE — Tomorrow might as well be renamed Porsche Day in Singapore, as a one-day love-fest for the iconic sportscar brand gets underway at Suntec.
Around 5,000 people are expected to show up at the event, which celebrates a carmaker that has defined the modern sportscar, along with its 30-year relationship with Stuttgart Auto, its agent in Singapore.
Four new Porsche models are being unveiled at The Porsche Circuit, but brand reps are being tight-lipped about what exactly will be there.
We do know that a special SG50 Edition of the Cayenne will be there, but there’s plenty more to see and do. Here are some highlights to look out for:
Porsche 919 Hybrid LeMans car
If Porsche is synonymous with any one thing, it might well be victory at the famed 24 Hours of LeMans. The brand clinched the top spot there again this year, and you’ll be able to see the car that did it up close, the 919 Hybrid pictured above. If you’re thinking of swiping the keys and making off with it though, think again: the car at Suntec is a replica.
Six generations of the iconic 911
Think Porsche and you automatically think of the 911. Six generations of the iconic car will be showcased at Suntec, giving you the chance to understand how it’s come to become the definitive sportscar of our time.
Race against a LeMans winner
Earl Bramber, one of the men who piloted the 919 Hybrid to victory at LeMans, will be on hand to actually challange members of the public. Too bad it’ll only be for a slot car race. But still, if we know racing drivers, we know he’ll be doing his darndest to win. See if you can stop him.
Porsche Kids Driving School
Young’uns won’t be left out. A driving circuit has been set up for them to facilitate a driving course, after which they get a cool certificate. Kids have all the fun.
Porsche makes bicycles, too. Apart from a stunt show from pro riders, you’ll be able to see them in action… from the saddle. But if test riding a Porsche bicycle isn’t your thing, you can actually sign up at Suntec to drive the real thing. Porsche says it’s making its whole range available for demo drives. Maybe kids don’t have all the fun, after all…
The Porsche Circuit is on at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre, halls 401 - 402, on Friday, 24 July from 10 am – 10 pm. Click here for more info.
