Lexus Singapore brings a tiered rewards system with eco-friendly benefits for referrals, and industry-leading support for its electric car owners
SINGAPORE – Japanese luxury brand Lexus has driven electrification in its lineup for decades, launched its first fully-electric vehicle here, and now it aims to ‘electrify’ the soft side of things to – the ownership experience.
For now, the only fully-electric Lexus here is the UX300e, but there are more to come. In the meantime, Lexus battery electric vehicle (BEV) owners will be glad to know that Lexus is touting a new level of support for them, the ‘Omotenashi EV Ownership Experience’.
With that, it offers the longest EV warranty in the industry, at eight years/200,000km, which applies to both the car and the battery. It’s one of the longest standard warranties for a car – in comparison the Porsche Taycan has a five-year car warranty (though that’s extendable to 10 years if you opt for the (paid for) extended warranty. The eight-year battery warranty from Lexus matches existing luxury BEVs, including Porsche and BMW.
BEV owners can also enjoy free charging at the Lexus Boutique, and even try their hand at hybrid with complimentary car swap of up to seven days. Owners are also given access to the brand’s to-your-door car service option, the top level of which is the Creme De La Creme Breakfast Service.
Dubbed ‘Lex’Perience’, Lexus pitches it as a ‘exclusive community for Lexus owners to converge and form connections’ though events, workshops, dining or culinary experiences and more.
There are three tiers of membership, and you gain tiers by making referrals – i.e. if someone you refer buys a Lexus – and higher tiers get more benefits. In a sense, Lexus wants you to become a sub-ambassador for the brand and to enjoy rewards for it.
All Lexus owners will enjoy the first tier by default, Lexus Insider, which gives S$500 Lexus Credits per referral, a 15-percent discount on car-sharing service Kinto Share, and 10 percent off selected Lexus merchandise.
Past two referrals and up to four, you’re considered a Lexus Elite member, and get S$800 credits per referral, 30 percent off Kinto Share, and 20 percent off merch. Above five referrals, and you’re a Lexus Ambassador, and nab S$1,000 Lexus Credits per referral, 40 percent off Kinto Share, and 30 percent off merch. Beyond this point you may want to consider asking for a finder’s fee too (our joke).
Lexus Credits can be spent on servicing or merchandise, or you can also opt to use the rewards system to plant a tree – quite an apt choice for a hybrid or BEV driver. Kinto Share is a car sharing platform that offers drives with a Lexus hybrid or electric car in Singapore.
