Local EV solutions company Charge+ will have at least 50 of these 120kw fast charging points in Singapore by Q2 2022

SINGAPORE

Charge+ has officially launched its charging network of fast electric vehicle (EV) chargers, offering a direct current (DC) power rating of up to 120kW.

Charge+ emphasises that these are faster chargers than the 50kW power rating ones from SP Group, currently available in public fast chargers around Singapore.

While exact fast charge times have numerous variables to take into account, a 120kW charger will charge the same car more than twice as quickly as a 50kW one.

This echos what Ms Koh Xiao Han, Head of Commercial & Operations, Charge+, said during the Industry Panel Discussion at EV Weekend 2021. She believes that “consumers will have more confidence in adopting EVs once they see that charging facilities are commonplace and are convenient to use.”

To date, Charge+ has already 12 operational fast charging points, two of which are locations which offers free parking, Axxel Innovation Centre and the other at Mah Building.

Charge+ does not intend to stop there, with 22 more fast charging points in the pipeline planned, by Q2 2022. You can soon expect to see its fast chargers around areas like Century Square, Tangs Plaza, and Waterway Point.

By the end of 2022, the Charge+ network aims to have at least 50 fast charging points, forming a vital component of Charge+’s nationwide network of about 1,000 charging points located in both public and private premises by end of this year. With so many exciting electric cars coming to Singapore this year, perhaps this is the time to consider ditching petrol cars and make that switch to electric.

The fastest DC chargers for EVs in Singapore belong to Tesla, whose Supercharger V3 units can output up to 250kW – however they’re only for Tesla owners to use. That’s how one Tesla owner charged his Model 3 fully in just under 50 minutes.

Charge+ will charge EV drivers on a pay-per-use basis. However, for chargers in selected premises, payment can be made on a monthly subscription basis. The app is free for Apple and Android users, both available on the App Store and Google Play Store.
