Official Kia distributor Cycle & Carriage has introduced the Kia Connect Lite connectivity app with remote control functionality, a first in the segment in Singapore

SINGAPORE

Cycle & Carriage (C&C), the official distributor for Kia cars in Singapore, has introduced the Kia Connect Lite connectivity app. The app, which C&C touts as the first in its class, allows users access to a whole host of vehicle data for easier maintenance tracking, as well as remote control functionality.

The Kia Connect Lite app was first touted on the Kia Sonet SUV that was launched earlier this year, and Kia says that it will roll out the full app connectivity on four new models over the coming months, namely the Niro Hybrid, Niro EV, EV6 and Cerato Smartstream.

The Sonet is the first Kia model to offer connectivity with Kia Connect Lite in Singapore

On Kia’s local website, Cycle & Carriage states that Kia Connect Lite is available via a subscription package, with pricing significantly subsidised for Kia’s Care Plan members. Each subscription package is valid for two years, with owners having an option to renew for a further two years upon expiry, subject to terms and conditions.

One of the key functionalities of Kia Connect Lite is the Remote Control function, which allows owners to lock and unlock their vehicle via the app, as well as pre-set the climate control before entering the vehicle and driving off. Owners can also schedule the car to start up remotely as desired, while there is also an emergency assist function which can contact the owners’ pre-registered contacts or the emergency services if the airbags are deployed in the car.

Other functions of the Kia Connect Lite app include allowing owners to check on their vehicle’s status, such as the battery and fuel levels, as well as initiate a health check to detect and notify the owner of any faults. The app can also help keep track of the car’s maintenance schedule, and sync up with myC&C app to allow customers to book a servicing appointment easily and seamlessly.

Other data that Kia Connect Lite users can access include information such as trip history, distance and time driven, and route travelled, allowing drivers to analyse their driving patterns over time.

Mobile apps that offer remote accessibility are not actually new to the car industry, with luxury premium brands such as BMW and Audi already offering such services. But the Kia Connect Lite service is the first such offering from a mainstream Asian brand in Singapore, and signifies Kia’s ambitions to offer premium digital services to its customers here.
