Alpine and Aston both bring more powerful sports cars to the table, Bentley has a hybrid, and BYD starts to venture into less staid, more exciting EVs with the Yuan Plus SUV.
Audi’s packing the heat this year: It’ll bring the drift-able RS 3 sedan/hatchback, the R8 RWD Performance sports car, the triple-motor E-Tron S, and the high-performance SQ7 and SQ8 large SUVs.
BMW will bring a second-gen version of its popular MPV, the 2 Series Active Tourer, and an all-new 2 Series Coupe. But it’ll also go heavy on EVs – the i4 will be its first electric sedan, while the i7 the new flagship EV to challenge the Merc EQS. We can also expect facelifts for the 3 Series, 8 Series, X1, and X7.
Citroen’s brought the new C4 that’s morphed from hatch into crossover, plus a facelifted C5 Aircross SUV. Ferrari will debut its new 296 GTB ‘entry level’ V6 sports car too.
Honda’s headliner will be the new third-gen HR-V – it actually has already launched here, we’ve a full news story on it too. Honda will also be bringing a facelifted City, a hybrid Civic too. Hyundai has updated its i30 N hot hatchback.
Kia’s EV6 has been making electron waves abroad for its cool design, EV performance, and all-around futurism-made-real approach – the car will arrive here in March. Later in 2022, Kia will also launch the Sorento Hybrid, and it’s already launched a compact SUV, the Sonet in early Jan.
Range Rover brings the new Range Rover, Lotus has a successor to its less-than-stellar Evora, and Mazda will debut its MX-30 EV. Meanwhile, Lexus has the all-new NX already on sale in January.
MG updates its successful ZS EV with a more futuristic look, Maserati brings the MC20 sports car and McLaren gets arty with the spendy GT, the Artura. More mainstream-ly relevant is Nissan’s new version of its Qashqai SUV.
Mercedes-Benz will get even more serious about EVs with three new ones in 2022 – the EQB (an electrified GLB), the EQE, and its stunning-looking EQS flagship (above). The new C-Class has already launched here, while there’s also a Merc-AMG SL on the way. Oh and two very expensive Maybachs.
French brand Peugeot will expand its popular SUV offerings with its first EV – the electric version of the 2008, while Pagani rolls out a super-spendy limited-ed supercar, the Huayra R.
If you wanna go fast, Porsche’s got your back in 2022: It’ll have a go-fastest version of the Cayman, the GT4 RS, and a go-faster-than-normal Taycan with the GTS model, and another go-fastest version of the Cayenne SUV, the CAyenne GT.
Subaru will bring its much improved BR-Z and a hybrid Forester, while Suzuki will unveil the new S-Cross SUV possibly with mild hybrid power. Tesla will being sales of its Model Y SUV – the other entry-level model alongside the Model 3 sedan.
Toyota’s bringing the hybrid Corolla Cross small SUV – think of it as a small RAV4, rather than a small Harrier (that’s the Yaris Cross). But speaking of which, it’ll also have the hybrid version of the RAV4 for the first time, and the new GR86 sports car.
VW will be packing two facelifts – one for its handsome four-door GT sedan the Arteon, and the other for its luxury big SUV the Touareg. Meanwhile it’s EVs and PHEVs galore for Volvo.
