New gen of Honda’s uber-popular-in-Singapore HR-V small SUV will be here soon with an official launch later this week with gasoline and hybrid versions

SINGAPORE – Honda’s long-awaited third-generation of its successful small SUV, the HR-V, will launch in Singapore later this week. If you want to tune in, official Honda dealer Kah Motor will be having an online launch. Naturally we’ll have a full report out on that day, so stay tuned to CarBuyer.

Like the Jazz compact hatch launched last year, the car will have a 1.5-litre hybrid ‘E:HEV’ drivetrain, where an electric motor does all the low speed work, and the gasoline engine takes over at higher speeds.

We think the hybrid might be COE Cat A compliant, since it has 129hp or 131ps (depending on how you convert the figures). We expect it to deliver around 4.0L/100km in fuel consumption, and be eligible for a VES S$15k rebate – if the Jazz E:HEV is anything to go by.

LTA homologation figures show that the HR-V E:HEV hybrid will have more than 130hp and thus be sold under a Category B COE, but the good news is that is it eligible for a VES A2 S$15,000 rebate, and has a quoted fuel economy of 4.3L/100km.

There is also very likely to be a 1.5-litre petrol-only model, which should have around 120hp and be mated to a CVT gearbox. Fuel consumption should ring in at around 6.0L/100km.
