Lotus Emira customers face a two-year waiting list for the car, with Singapore accounting for the majority of sales in the APAC region.

SINGAPORE

If you want to own a Lotus Emira in Singapore, chances are you have to be put on a two-year waiting list. Lotus dealer Wearnes Automotive announced that Singapore has accounted for the majority of orders (in percentage terms) for the Emira in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East region.

It adds that 90 per cent of global production orders for the mid-engine premium sports car have been filled since it was first announced in July 2021.

The Emira is Lotus’ latest sports car that builds on the legacy of the Elise, Exige and Evora, and features a supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine that produces 400hp and 420Nm of torque. It comes with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, allowing it to go from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds. There’s also a six-speed auto option that does the same sprint in 4.2 seconds.

Here’s Ju-Len showing you what an old-school Lotus is like

The Emira is the last of the old school luxury sports cars that goes down the internal combustion engine (ICE) route in a world that’s rapidly transitioning into electric. Lotus does have its own EV plans, however, with the Evija EV scheduled to be launched in 2022, featuring four electric motors and a supercar-slaying 1972hp.
