Among the smorgasbord of cars, here’s some of the quirkiest, must-see art cars for the culturally conscious

SINGAPORE 

Audi x Andy Yang

In a collaboration with multidisciplinary artist Andy Yang, Audi has produced the e-tron GT Electric Dreams. Inspired by artificial intelligence software Dall-E that generates digital images from textual prompts, Yang makes use of artificial intelligence to envision an electric future, with the e-tron GT as his canvas.

Mini x Sir Paul Smith

British men’s fashion designer Sir Paul Smith collaborates with Mini on the Mini Strip and Mini Recharged.

The Mini Strip, a one-off car co-created by Sir Paul Smith, showcases ideas for a more sustainable method of automotive design. In pursuit of a classy, minimal design, the exterior of the Mini Cooper SE welcomes the use of raw metals resulting in the body left in its unfinished state, with no coloured paint. Instead, only a thin film of transparent paint is applied to protect against corrosion.

On the inside, the Mini Strip makes use of recycled, environment-friendly materials with the interior completely free of leather and chrome. The seats are upholstered in knitted fabric, making for fully recyclable seat coverings. Other materials like rope and cork are also employed. 

The Mini Recharged, a classic Mini from the 1998 Mini Paul Smith Edition but with an all-electric engine, will also be on display.

Suzuki x Erika Tay

Suzuki have also collaborated with local artist Erika Tay, to create artworks that will be showcased on four seminal Suzuki models.

On the Suzuki Swift sits a Kitsune fox designed by Tay, along with a rabbit as a nod to 2023 being the year of the rabbit in the lunar calendar. The Kitsune, known for its cunning spirit and intelligence is meant to mirror the Swift’s zippy, hot hatch characteristics.

The Swift Sport meanwhile bears the maneki-neko, the Japanese beckoning cat. Believed to bring good luck and fortune, the illustration of waves represents the Swift Sport’s responsiveness and driving experience.

On the Ignis, you’ll find Daruma dolls as a representation of Japanese culture, capturing the quirky and bold spirit of the Ignis in a meld of past and present.

The Jimny meanwhile carries Samurais, known in Japanese culture for their courage, tenacity, and skill, a nod to the rugged personality of the Jimny. 

Suzuki is also hosting a Time Attack Challenge where you can race against others on a simulator track of Orchard Road, designed by Legion of Racers. Each participant gets 3 minutes to record their best lap time, and the contestant with the fastest time can stand a chance to win a Nintendo Switch Lite, among other prizes.
