Would you buy a Tesla now that it is S$13,200 cheaper?

SINGAPORE

Singapore buyers of Tesla’s existing inventory of Model 3 or Model Y electric vehicles will be able to get the cars for cheaper.

According to Reuters, a company sales representative announced that Tesla Singapore will be offering discounts to buyers of its existing stocks of Model 3 and Model Y EVs on 9 January 2023.

Those who trade in an existing internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle will get a discount of US$5,000, and another US$5,000 credit against the cost of the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) in Singapore.

Currently, at time of writing on 11th January 2023, a Model 3 rear-wheel drive (RWD) is priced at S$114,785 without COE, while its all-wheel drive (AWD) variant comes in at S$164,528 without COE.

Meanwhile, the Model Y RWD is priced at S$142,601 and the AWD at S$190,325, without COE. Whether this discount will cause an uproar in sales is yet to be expected although the Tesla Model Y did top the sales charts in Singapore for September last year.

Additionally, Tesla will provide the wall connector for qualified buyers who have a home charger, although the consumer will have to bear the cost of the installation.
