Volkswagen has unveiled the long wheelbase version of its ID. Buzz electric van for Europe and America, with more power and seven-seater capability

WOLFSBURG, GERMANY

Volkswagen has unveiled the long wheelbase version of its ID. Buzz electric van, which will be offered in European and North American markets. There’s no word on the LWB version’s availability for Asia or Singapore, but Volkswagen confirmed that the regular ID. Buzz will arrive here in the middle of 2024.

The ID. Buzz LWB is some 250mm longer than the regular version, all of which is added to the wheelbase. The car therefore measures in at 4,962mm long, and the increase in length means that there is room to accommodate an extra third row of seats, making the ID. Buzz LWB a seven-seater people mover. There is also an impressive 2,469 litres of storage throughout the cabin, making it a truly versatile vehicle.

Volkswagen has also given the ID. Buzz LWB the option of a new, slightly larger 85kWh battery to account for the increase in size. With the larger battery, the ID. Buzz LWB is thus more powerful than the regular version which has an 82kWh battery, with its power output going up from 201hp to 286hp, while top speed is now increased from 145km/h to 160km/h. Later in 2024, Volkswagen will introduce a high-performance ID. Buzz GTX version with 339hp.

Other new features on the ID. Buzz LWB include a head-up display, an upgraded version of Volkswagen’s next-generation infotainment system, and remote parking capability via a smartphone app. The LWB version will also introduce a panoramic sunroof with smart glass that will be the largest glass sunroof that Volkswagen has ever produced. North American versions will also feature air-conditioned seats and an illuminated Volkswagen logo on the front.

The ID. Buzz LWB was unveiled at the American VW Bus Festival in Huntington Beach, California, and will make its European debut at the international VW Bus Festival in Hannover, Germany on 22 to 25 June, with first deliveries of the car set to begin in North America in early 2024.
