Lamborghini has unveiled the Huracan Technica, which slots between the regular Huracan and the track-bred STO in the line-up; Singapore availability TBC
NEW YORK, USA
Lamborghini has pulled the wraps off the Huracan Technica, which slots between the regular rear-wheel-drive Huracan and the track-focused Huracan STO in the lineup. The car’s availability for Singapore is yet to be confirmed, but we should probably expect to see it here by the end of the year.
The Technica combines the best of both worlds, using the STO’s powerplant while remaining RWD like the standard Huracan. This means that its mid-mounted 5.2-litre V10 engine produces the same 640hp and 565Nm of torque as the STO, but is slightly slower in its 0-100km/h sprint, taking 3.2 seconds as opposed to 3 seconds flat for the STO.
Lamborghini says that it wants the Technica to be a ‘Drivers Car’, and to that end it has outfitted it with rear-wheel-steering and torque vectoring, along with a modified traction control programme. Three selectable drive modes (Strada, Sport and Corsa) allows the driver to vary the amount of grip and agility as desired, while also sharpening up the engine and gearbox response. The braking system, meanwhile, gets improved cooling via new cooling deflectors and calliper ducts that direct more air onto the carbon ceramic discs.
Externally, the Technica gets a redesigned front lower bumper which now incorporates an air curtain for enhanced aerodynamics. The splitter is new as well, and features slats that can redirect air through the wheels for more downforce, while the bonnet is made from carbon fibre to reduce weight.
At the back, the Technica has a new rear window and rear bumper, a redesigned cover for the V10 engine, and a fixed rear wing. The car is also some 6.1 cm longer than the Huracan EVO model, and Lamborghini says that the Technica offers 35 percent more downforce than the EVO.
The interior remains mostly unchanged, but the Technica gets a redesigned and bespoke interface for the driver’s instrument panel and the central information display, which offers the ability to showcase data such as track telemetry and track lap times. As usual, the car can be customised via Lamborghini’s Ad Personam bespoke programme, with customisable trims and colours available.
