You can now learn to ride an electric motorcycle at ComfortDelGro Driving Centre

The three-hour course covers both theory and practical training with a fee of S$50

SINGAPORE

ComfortDelGro Driving Centre will now offer electric motorcycle courses starting 8 February 2023. This will be Singapore’s first electric motorcycle familiarisation course, targeted at motorcyclists who are considering buying an electric motorbike and already have at minimum a valid Class 2B licence.

The course is three hours long covering both the theory and practical aspects of electric bikes, with a fee of S$50.

During the lessons, riders will be given a familiarisation session on the general knowledge and operational characteristics of an electric motorcycle, along with essential pre-ride checks and riding an electric bike safely.

The course will use two types of e-motorbikes, the G2 Quantum (Class 2B) and the Alrendo TS Bravo (Class 2A).

The G2 Quantum has an electric range of about 90km and has been provided by Quantum Mobility, a local start-up that is looking to start e-motorbike sales soon.

The Alrendo TS Bravo offers an electric range of 278km. Both e-motorbikes take about 90 minutes to charge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent.

“ComfortDelGro Driving Centre has had, in June 2022, introduced the electric vehicle (EV) option for Class 3A licence learners. Although the e-motorcycle licensing course is not available as of now, we have decided to start off with the Electric Motorcycle Familiarisation Course first so as to pave the way for more of such similar offerings in the future”, said Vincent Tan, CEO of ComfortDelGro Driving Centre.

In June last year, ComfortDelGro Driving Centre added five electric cars to its training vehicle fleet and aims to grow this fleet to 100 by 2030. It has also installed 290 solar panels on the centre’s rooftop, which will save 30 per cent of its monthly electricity bills.
