Go-fastest 710bhp, 1,017Nm version of the Continental coupe previewed in Singapore

Singapore – Bentley has pulled the covers off its new Continental Supersports, which is the most powerful car in its current line-up and touted as ‘the world’s fastest four-seater’ by the British brand.

Bentley’s 6.0-litre, twin-turbo W12 engine has been ‘redeveloped’ for the Supersports with larger turbochargers and improved cooling system that allow for more power/boost pressure, while the engine’s conrod and main bearings are also upgraded.

The car makes 79bhp and 217Nm more than the previous Supersports model, which give the new car a total power output of 700bhp and a colossal 1,017Nm of torque. The standard W12 Continental makes 582bhp and 720Nm of torque, in comparison.

As before, the car’s brake system is one of the biggest anywhere – it comes with carbon ceramic brakes as standard and 21-inch forged alloy wheels, which accounts for a large proportion (20kg) of the overall weight saving of 30kg. Bentley says an additional five kilos can be shed with an optional titanium exhaust system.

Like all Continentals, the car has all-wheel drive with torque split 40/60 front and rear, but the Supersports also packs the torque-vectoring capability that first appeared on the special-edition Continental GT3-R. The Supersports will blitz 0-100km/h in only 3.5 seconds, making it even quicker than the 3.8-second GT3-R, and has a top speed of 336km/h.

Numerous carbon fibre parts appear on the inside and out, such as the front lip and rear aero spoilers. Shown here is the X Specification pack that includes two-tone paint and extra carbon parts. Bentley also offers its Mulliner customisation service for those with deeper pockets and esoteric needs. The Continental Supersports is priced at $1,150,000 without COE.
