The manager of Chelsea Football Club is now a Jaguar brand ambassador, and helped to launch the car in the UK on Valentine’s Day.

“It drives like a great player because it does what I want it to do,” he said of the F-Type Coupe, which Jaguar claims is its most performance-focused model ever.

Three versions of the all-aluminium car are being built, and even the basic model has a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine with 335bhp that propels it to 259km/h.

The slightly more powerful S model has 375bhp and can reach 275km/h.

Meanwhile, the top-of-the-range Coupe R is powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, giving it 543bhp, enough power to hit an electronically limited top speed of 300km/h.

Jaguar says the car’s boot can easily accommodate two golf bags.

The new Coupe should appear in showrooms here by May this year. As for Chelsea players’ reaction to their boss’ new set of wheels, Mourinho said the team had this to say: “How can this old man drive such a cool car?”
