Businessman buys customised Rollers to ferry his guests around

MACAU-BASED HOTELIER Stephen Hung has just made Rolls-Royce history by placing the single largest order ever for the ultra-push cars.

The entrepreneur bought 30 Bespoke Extended Wheelbase Phantoms from Rolls-Royce, each one extensively customised to fit the decor of his Louis XIII hotel in Macau.

The cars will ferry guests around when the luxury hotel opens in 2016.

At a signing ceremony attended by Rolls-Royce CEO Thorsten Müller-Ötvös at the firm’s Goodwood HQ, Hung boasted that his hotel’s fleet of Phantoms would add to the “many distinctions” that have turned Macau into, according to him, the luxury capital of the world.

Of the 30 cars, two are said to be the most expensive Rolls-Royces ever built, and will include gold-plated elements both inside and outside the car.

Rolls-Royce says its Bespoke department worked closely with Hung and Louis XIII staff to customise the cars.

One new bespoke item resulting from the collaboration is a clock designed for the cars by Graff Luxury Watches. Even the car’s instruments have been designed to match the Louis XIII.

Rolls-Royce Motor in turn helped to design the parking and driveways at the Louis XIII to house the fleet of Phantoms. The company will also train Louis XIII’s chauffeurs from Macau in the appropriate driving and handling of the cars, it said in a statement.
