On the back of trumping Tesla in EV sales in 2023. BYD now inks a deal with 5 charging operators, meaning owners can benefit from discounts when charging their cars

SINGAPORE

Good news! It is now possible for BYD owners to enjoy discounts when it comes to charging their electric vehicle. BYD, together with five Charging Point Operators (CPOs) inked an agreement, at the BYD by 1826 (Boat Quay), on 15 March.

The partnership between BYD and the five CPOs – Charge+, CDG ENGIE, Shell Recharge, SP Group, and Volt; are another effort by the Chinese car brand to add value to owning a BYD passenger vehicle.

There are two discounted plans offered, and to make things easier, so allow us to break them down.

Charge+, CDG ENGIE, Shell Recharge and SP Group

This discount scheme only applies to new BYD passenger cars, which are registered in 2024. BYD car owners can pick one of the four CPOs, who will offer a 20-percent discount on charging rates. However, the discounts will only apply to the CPO you have committed your vehicle to.

Volt

On the other hand, Volt offers BYD passenger car owners a 5-percent discount, but this will apply to all existing owners.

We also understand that BYD is also in talks with a 6th CPO, to expand on charging cost benefits.

BYD’s efforts to woo would-be EV buyers, has definitely paid-off. Apart from brokering discounts with CPOs, BYD has also gone on to entice buyers with lifestyle benefits. This also includes F&B vouchers and discounts, which in-all, seemed to have done wonders. In 2023 BYD overtook Tesla in EV sales.
