Moving on to the letters N-O-P, Nissan is preparing a version of its N-O-T-E, Note compact hatchback with the same E-Power tech that made its Kicks small SUV such a hit, but we think the next-gen Qashqai it’s bringing in might be an even better seller. Opel will be refreshing its Crossland and bring a new Mokka to bear, while Peugeot will double down on its strong sellers, with facelifts of the 3008 and 5008 SUVs, but also bring the 508 sedan back.
Moving onto P&R, Porsche has already debuted the facelifted Panamera in its base variant with a million more many on the way, including PHEVs and the ridiculously powerful Turbo S and Turbo S E-Hybrid. For recreation, it has the 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Boxster Spyder, both featuring a naturally-aspirated 4.0 flat six. In ‘R’, Renault is bringing a facelifted version of its Megane RS hot hatch.
Now that we’re at S, it’s all about the Volkswagen Group here: Seat will bring some facelifts and two Cupra performance models. Skoda, the brand that’s become the go-to for affordable Continental cars, is bringing the Kamiq SUV, which is smaller and cheaper than the existing Karoq SUV. And if you’ve wanted a spacious hatch that isn’t a Honda Jazz, the new Scala might pique your interest.
Reaching the letter T, this is a noteworthy year for Toyota because it’s not launching one, but two hybrids which aren’t Priuses – namely the already debuted Yaris Cross small SUV, as well as the facelifted midsize Harrier SUV.
But it’s not like it’s all hybrid mainstream stuff either: The very unique GR Yaris, a homologation special hot hatch, is also coming to Singapore, along with a new version of the 86 sports car.
Moving onto our final two brands, we have Volkswagen and Volvo. VW will be parachuting in the long-awaited VW Golf Mark 8, but it remains to be seen how it’ll be priced and positioned, especially with a mild-hybrid possibility and VES. Naturally, the less saintly Golf GTI and outright brawny, drifty Golf R will follow in the wake of the regular Golf. Volvo opts for a blend of saintly and sin-y with two plug-ins, the small SUV XC40 and the large, powerful XC90 T8.
