Test drive a Lexus from home – now Lexus Singapore will send the car directly to you

Don’t want to leave the house, but have a burning desire to test drive the latest cars from Japanese luxury brand Lexus?

Lexus Singapore, through its official dealer/distributor Borneo Motors, is now offering test drives of the majority of its lineup with the car sent directly to your door. 

The brand calls this new ‘direct-to-door’ test drive service Lexus Test Drive Concierge.

The process is simple: Register your interest at this link, then a representative will get in touch with you to arrange an appointment at your preferred location, date, and time – that is, as long as it’s on a weekday and between 9am to 7pm.

Lexus says the Concierge is an ‘elevated service offering’ for its more time-pressed customers and those who wish to experience the brand at their convenience.

“ Our commitment to delivering exceptional service at every step of the customer journey is just another example of the quest for excellence we have at Lexus. Driven by the principles of Omotenashi, the Lexus Test Drive Concierge service enhances our customers’ interaction with the brand and our vehicles by allowing them perform their test drives at routes they are familiar with and around settings that put them at ease,” says Samuel Yong, Director of Marketing and Business Strategy, Borneo Motors Singapore.

The Lexus models available for test drive through this service are: IS, ES, NX, RX, and UX. If you are planning on driving any of these cars, read our reviews by clicking on the link so you can enter the experience fully-briefed beforehand.

Lexus says the only limitations are those that exist for regular test drives at the showroom, i.e. all you need is a Class 3 Singapore driving licence.

A typical test drive session will last approximately two hours (including time for the sales consultant to bring the car to you) and customers are allowed to select ‘any of their preferred routes to experience the car’s dynamic capabilities based on their daily driving conditions and usage scenarios.’

The brand also says it will take extensive steps to ensure customer safety at this time. Ongoing staff temperature checks are in place for Lexus sales consultants, as well as the customers involved, test drive vehicles are disinfected before and after every customer test drive, and the company reserves the right to refuse test drives to those who display symptoms or are unwell.

Lexus isn’t the first to market this service though – earlier this year, mainstream brand Kia began offering test drives at a customer’s preferred place and time.

Like any other form of retail, the business of selling cars is pushing forward new ways to bring cars to customers.
