The speed doctors at Merc-HQ reveal their latest and most powerful iteration of the C-Class coupe

Affalterbach, Germany — Mercedes-AMG has revealed its most sporty C-Class ever made, the new C 63 coupe. Based on the C-Class coupe, the new C 63 coupe’s exterior modifications include flared wheel arches, increased track width and larger wheels, making it look like a smaller version of the S 63 coupe.

To add some context to the commotion, the C 63 happens to be Mercedes-AMG’s best-selling model series and forms the backbone of the company’s success. “The new C 63 coupe embodies our conception of progress: It offers impressive longitudinal and lateral dynamics at an extremely high level along with improved fuel economy,” said Tobias Moers, chairman of the board of management at Mercedes-AMG GmbH, in a statement. In English, that means it’ll go quicker in a straight line, and around corners, while possibly leaving you some leftover cash for food after visiting the petrol station.

The AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine with 476hp is as always is completely developed in house. This is the same engine used in Mercedes-AMG GT sports car but with added dry sump lubrication.

It uses a MCT (Mercedes speak for ‘multi-clutch technology’) seven-speed automatic transmission, produces 650Nm of torque, has an efficiency of 8.9L/km, goes from 0 to 100 in four seconds and has a top speed of 250km/h (electronically limited).

As an alternative to the standard sports seats in Artico microfibre and Dinamica man-made leather, Performance seats are a cost option and let you sit lower and grip you tighter, the better to go round bends at full speed with.

Both the new C 63 coupe and regular C-Class coupe will be unveiled on September 15 at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show. Unfortunately there is no news about the C 63 coupe coming to Singapore any time this year.
