Mercedes-Benz partners with Green-House to promote sustainable living

For the third time, Mercedes Benz supports sustainable living, by joining hands with Green-House, at New Bahru

SINGAPORE

Over the weekend (13-14 July 2024), Green-House hosted their third and largest immersive retail festival, featuring an electrifying line-up of vehicles from Mercedes-Benz. In partnership with New Bahru, which was once Nan Chiau High , the festival spanned an expansive 18,000 square feet.

There were three immersive concepts during the event – Renew, Reimagine and Reconnect. The Renew Zone (Factory space) accommodated the ‘Circling Zero’ art exhibition, jointly commissioned by Knock Knock Studio and Mercedes-Benz Singapore; which I found very fascinating. Titled ‘Art-as-Furniture,’ this concept envisions transforming used Mercedes-Benz car parts – such as brake discs, taillights, spark plugs, and catalytic converters – and turning them into innovative and functional pieces of furniture. Castlery also returned to the exhibition this year, showcasing their collaboration with ‘Pass It On Studio’ for preloved showroom furniture using bio-composite materials.

Other brands that were featured for the first time include Helinox – a South Korean outdoor furniture company that curates durable yet versatile designs for everyday use, and Samsonite – leading travel luggage brand that is pushing towards sustainable travelling. The partnership between Samsonite and local textile artist, Natalia Tan, allows guests to try their hand at weaving unwanted inner fabric lining from reclaimed luggages. B-corp Coffee powerhouse, Nespresso, whose sustainability efforts drive meaningful change, threw their hat in the ring.

The Reimagine Zone (School Hall) revolves around innovative and sustainable lifestyle products such as handbags from Webeings, and Issho Labo. The Mercedes-Benz Kantine which is a collaboration with FURA, is also situated here. Christina Rasmussen, co-founder of FURA, meticulously crafted a three-course, non-alcoholic beverage pairing menu that showcased innovative and sustainable techniques in utilising modest ingredients. 

The Reconnect Zone (Lawn) is where guests are invited to bring their pets and reconnect with nature, through a themed campground, developed in collaboration with key partners, Mercedes-Benz and Helinox. The joint partnership brings together a pet photoshoot contest, where 25 lucky winners will be picked and awarded with a customised camping set worth more than S$400.

An array of electrifying Mercedes-Benz models such as the EQA, EQB, EQE and EQS were also available, where members of the public were able to sign-up for test drives.
