Ferrari to deliver its latest 4.0-litre biturbo V8 topless horse, the 488 Spider, and the already sold out V12 F12 tdf to Singapore

Ju-len drove the 488 GTB in 2015 and pronounced it a proper Prancing Horse and more.

The inevitable drop-top Spider was announced shortly after and, as reported on CarBuyer.com.sg, the car will be landing here in the first half of the year.

11 different types of aluminium alloy have been used to make the Spider’s miniscule folding roof, and the result is that it’s only 50kg heavier than the Coupe, but 23 percent stiffer than the 458 Spider’s toupee.

Performance remains almost the same: 0-100km/h in 3.0 seconds, top whack of more than 325km/h thanks to the new 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine with 670bhp.

The F12tdf (or ‘F12tdf’ in Ferrari speak) is a homage to an old motor race that Ferrari used to win quite a lot – think Porsche and the Carrera Panamerica race – and ‘tdf’ means Tour de France.

Ferrari couldn’t use the name due to mad bicycle enthusiasts (or copyright owners anyway) but it went ahead and made a special, mad version of the already mad F12 front-engined V12 coupe.

It’s 100kg lighter, 40bhp more powerful, has a revised gearbox, wider front tyres and a heck of a lot more aero downforce, plus four-wheel steering. 799 of these track-focused, road legal F12s have been made and yes, they’re all spoken for.
