What: Huayra R
When: Q4
How Much : Approximately S$5,000,000
Newly-appointed Pagani distributor Eurokars Supersports (EKSS) will bring in the Huayra R in the fourth quarter of 2022. This EUR3.0 million (S$4.6m) track hypercar is, in the words of company boss Horacio Pagani, “the most extreme and performance-oriented Pagani car of all time.”
The Huayra R is a strictly track-only car that won’t be allowed to be registered and driven on public roads, but EKSS is still confident that it will be an attractive proposition for its higher end clientele who will likely be purchasing them for overseas track days. Production is limited to just 30 units worldwide, but EKSS has not revealed how many units have been allocated for Singapore.
Power comes from a 6.0-litre V12 from Mercedes-AMG, tuned to produce 850hp and 750Nm of torque. The car weighs just 1,050kg, thanks to the extensive use of lightweight materials such as titanium and carbon fibre. The car has also been optimised aerodynamically, with numerous air intakes on the roof and sides, as well as a dramatic rear wing, while there’s also active suspension and large carbon ceramic brakes.
What: e-2008
When: Q3
How Much : TBA
Peugeot’s first full electric passenger car to go on sale in Singapore will be the e-2008, which is scheduled for a mid-year launch here. As the name suggests, the car is based on the 2008 crossover, but will feature an electric drivetrain that develops 136hp and 260Nm of torque.
The car’s 50kWh battery is good for a WLTP-rated range of slightly over 300km on a full charge, but the e-2008’s appeal is the fact that it is not too much different from the regular petrol-powered 2008. That means it retains the same stylish exterior, and uniquely well-appointed interior as the 2008, while boot space remains surprisingly unchanged despite the addition of the electric drivetrain and batteries.
What: Cupra Born
Variants: 45kWh, 58kWh
When: Q3
How Much : TBA
The Cupra Born is the second car from Seat’s performance spin-off brand Cupra that’s not affiliated with an equivalent Seat model. Based upon the Volkswagen ID.3 and built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB modular EV architecture, the Cupra Born is a fully-electric hot hatch that promises Volkswagen Golf GTI levels of performance with zero emissions.
Two versions are earmarked for Singapore when the car arrives in the third quarter of this year, with the 45kWh model offering 150hp and 310Nm of torque, and an electric driving range of 349km. The flagship version comes with a 58kWh battery, which delivers 204hp and 310Nm of torque, and can travel up to 424km when fully charged.
Other highlights on the Cupra Born include Dynamic Chassis Control adjustable suspension, and an augmented reality head-up display. Cupra also says that the Born is completely carbon neutral, and features recycled materials for its seats and interior plastics.
