Hyundai launched their second made in Singapore EV on 19 July Friday. The IONIQ 6 which shares the production floor with the South Korean brand’s other locally–assembled EV, the IONIQ 5, and the lONIQ 5 robotaxi (for the US market).

Four models are available, beginning with two Category A COE-friendly 53kWh variants, and two 77kWh versions, which are Category B cars.

The IONIQ 6, which is the second model built upon the Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), offers ample passenger and luggage space. But unique to the made-in-Singapore car, are enhanced connectivity features, namely Bluelink connectivity with Connected Car Services and Over The Air software updates. This enhancement allows the locally-produced IONIQ 6 to deliver seamless connectivity via online voice recognition, and opens the door to a wide range of convenience features. As there are many changes to our road network during this period, due to new MRT lines being constructed, the Over The Air Updates are a huge plus, as the latest maps can be updated wirelessly.

To optimise the production time of the IONIQ 6, the factory floor benefits from data-driven AI, Robotics, and Digital Twin (the last-mentioned simulates how to best assemble the car, virtually).

“Following the success and interest in the IONIQ 5 and the IONIQ 5 robotaxi, we are pleased to launch our next made-in-Singapore EV, the IONIQ 6, through HMGICS’s advanced manufacturing technologies with AI, Robotics, and Digital Twin. The IONIQ 6 marks another step in our efforts to introduce new, customised mobility experiences with our various stakeholders in the EV ecosystem. Along with the enhanced charging solutions our partners offer, we believe that the IONIQ 6 will offer an elevated quality and driving experience for customers in Singapore, easing the adoption of EVs and contributing to Singapore’s sustainable ecosystem and mobility journey,” said Dr Hyun Sung Park, CEO of HMGICS.

In addition, Hyundai also inked an agreement with Schneider Electric – the leading AC charger provider in Singapore, where the latter will offer owners with an industry-leading three-year product warranty for the latest version of their home charger. Schneider Electric’s new charger is equipped with a longer cable for easier access to the charger.

Additionally, Hyundai has also tied-up with two leading EV Charge Point Operators (CPO). Singapore Power Mobility (SPM), boasts the biggest network of chargers locally, and  Charge+ which has coverage in countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia.

P.UP, a charging concierge service provider, is also part of Hyundai’s charging network. With their partnership, owners will have access to five charges a month, for up to twelve months. P.UP also provides drivers with complimentary 12 months emergency rescue service, with emergency charging, 12V battery replacement, and towing for up to two times per year.

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 range begins from $192,150, inclusive of COE.
