Toyota Singapore recently launched their latest offering – the new Toyota Camry Hybrid, over at their pop-up exhibition outside Wisma Atria, Orchard. This time around, Toyota’s D-Segment sedan is offered in only one trim – Elegance.  

Sharper in looks, and also more refined in design than its predecessor, the 9th-generation Camry, while heavily based on the previous generation car, carries distinctive ‘Hammerhead’ LED headlights similar to those first seen on the Toyota Prius Hybrid, an aerodynamic roofline, and a sleek, three-dimensional ‘C-shaped’ tail light cluster. 

The most important changes are on the inside, where revisions have taken their sedan more upmarket. Of-course there is supple leather upholstery all-around, and for those in front, they can enjoy the added comfort of ventilated seats. To let more light into the cabin, a panoramic sunroof is standard equipment.

A larger and more responsive 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen graces the dashboard, offering users a cleaner-looking Lexus-like interface. Occupants can enjoy quality audio, which now comes in the form of a nine-speaker JBL Premium System. For rear passengers, there is a digital centre armrest console allowing them to control various settings such as climate, volume, deployment of sunshades, and even the reclining of seats.

Safety is a priority, with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite, comprising driving assistance features such as Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Pre-Collision System (PCS), and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA). It also is equipped with a birds-eye view parking monitor, which utilises stitched imagery from the rear view camera and blind spot monitoring system, for easier parking.

The  2.5-litre in-line four hybrid powertrain is carried over from the previous car,  the engine and electric motor together, produces 225hp and 221Nm, which gives it the ability to do a brisk 7.2 second century sprint. But brisk performance aside, efficiency is what is truly remarkable. The Camry Hybrid does 19.6km/l according to Toyota.

The list price for the 9th-generation Toyota Camry Hybrid is S$246,888 with COE.
