Following the introduction of the Macan 4 and the top-of-the-line Macan Turbo earlier this year, Porsche has now added two more variants to its lineup: the Macan and the Macan 4S. Poised to be one of the best-selling premium electric SUVs in its class, it is not surprising that Porsche has doubled their model range to meet market demand.

The new Porsche Macan is the first model in its lineup to offer rear-wheel drive, with Porsche asserting that this innovation is designed to deliver efficiency and range. The Macan 4S, on the other hand, will bridge the gap between its siblings, the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo. Like the previously launched variants, the Macan 4S will also adopt the electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) system, which allocates drive power between the front and rear axles five times quicker than a traditional all-wheel drive system.

The entry-level Macan features a 100kWh high-voltage battery and a rear-axle motor similar to the Macan 4, with a power output of 335hp. It uses a 480-amp pulse inverter with silicon carbide for improved efficiency and reduced switching losses in the pulse inverter. With launch control, the Macan can achieve an additional 20hp of overboost power and 563 Nm of torque. It completes the century sprint in 5.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 220 km/h. Weighing 110 kilograms lesser than the Macan 4, due to the absence of all-wheel drive, it offers an efficient WLTP range of up to 641km.

Positioned at the higher range of the model line-up, the Macan 4S features a new rear-axle motor, with a robust 600-amp pulse inverter, which helps it to punch out 442hp, or 508hp with overboost. With launch control, the Macan 4S exerts out a massive 820 Nm of torque. It does 0-100 in a brisk 4.1 seconds, achieving a top speed of 240 km/h; and offers a WLTP range of up to 606km. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) now comes standard on the Macan 4S. The adaptive air suspension with levelling and height adjustment, along with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and rear-axle steering, further enhances the chassis, for improved performance and comfort. The 800-volt Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture supports DC fast charging of up to 270 kW, allowing the high-voltage battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 21 minutes, at a suitable fast-charging station.

A new Slate Grey Neo exterior colour is now available for all Macan models, along with a 20-inch Macan S wheel being added to the lineup. Additionally, an optional new off-road design package is available for everyday usability, making rough terrain and steep inclines easier to navigate. This package boosts ground clearance by 10mm to 195mm in the normal setting.

Porsche has also unveiled a new display and control system known as the Porsche Driver Experience. This includes a 12.6-inch curved instrument display, a 10.9-inch passenger display, an augmented reality head-up display, and ambient lighting integrated with a Themes app that allows users to select twelve colour options.
