Added punch, an upgraded chassis and sportier styling for Macan’s newest variant, the GTS

SINGAPORE — The new Porsche Macan GTS was launched on the rooftop terrace of Porsche Centre Singapore located at Leng Kee Road, Wednesday night, May 11.

The GTS joins the existing range already available for sale here. They include the entry-level Macan, Macan S, Macan S Diesel, and Macan Turbo.

To mark the launch of the crossover, local-authorised Porsche dealer Stuttgart Auto presented the Macan GTS variant.

This variant is aimed at those looking for something sportier than the S-badged version, but aren’t quite ready to hop into the more performance-oriented Turbo version.

Priced at $326,488 without COE, the Macan GTS costs $47,700 more than the S.

The extra cash gets you more horsepower (20hp up from the S), a five-second century dash (0.2 seconds quicker than the S) and a top speed of 256km/h (the S does 254km/h).

The Macan GTS achieves these numbers thanks to a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, which produces 360hp at 6,000rpm, and 500Nm of torque between 1,650 to 4,000rpm. It is mated to a seven-speed twin-clutch “PDK” transmission.

GTS-specific exterior appointments include 20-inch tyres, sports exhaust system including black tailpipes, front and rear bumper lower spoilers, side skirts, rear upper spoiler, and wheel arch trims.

Eight-way electric sports seats and an ‘exclusive’ GTS leather packaging that uses Alcantara, make the inside of the Macan GTS feel more sporty than Sport Utility.

While the GTS offers lots of frills, fans of Porsche’s entry-level SUV have an updated version of the basic Macan to look forward. Set for launch here within two months, it features a slight bump in engine power, to 252hp.

That version will not be as swift as the Macan GTS, but when it comes to providing family transport with a Porsche badge, it will be up to the job.
