SG Motorshow 2023: Top Sports Cars

Here are the most exciting sports cars to check out at the 2023 Singapore Motorshow


SINGAPORE

Aside from the mainstream bread-and-butter models, there are also plenty of exciting metal on show to cater to the enthusiast at this year’s Singapore Motorshow, which is taking place at the Suntec City Convention Centre from 12 to 15 January. Here are the top sports cars to check out at the show, and remember to read our overview about all you need to know about this year’s show.

Toyota GR86

The second-generation version of Toyota’s lightweight coupe is making its official local debut at the show, and like its predecessor, the GR86 will be offered in both manual and automatic transmission options. Power comes from an all-new 2.4-litre four-cylinder boxer that produces 235hp and 250Nm of torque, with 0-100km/h coming up in 6.3 seconds. Pricing is at S$138,888 without COE for the manual, and S$146,888 for the latter. Read more about it in our news coverage here.

BMW M3 Touring

The first-ever BMW M3 Touring is making its appearance in Singapore for the very first time, and the wagon version of the M3 sedan is a very powerful way to ferry your dogs or furniture, with its 500-litre boot that can be expanded to up to 1,510 litres. Like the M3, the Touring uses a 3.0-litre inline six engine with 510hp and 650Nm of torque, and 0-100km/h comes up in 3.6 seconds. Pricing for the M3 Touring starts at S$560,888 inclusive of COE, and you can read more about it here.

Volkswagen Golf R

The latest version of Volkswagen’s most powerful Golf, the Golf R, is being previewed at the show. Based on the latest Mk8 Golf, the new Golf R is the most powerful production Golf in Singapore, with its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine putting out 320hp and 420Nm of torque, allowing it to go from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds. No pricing details have been announced yet, with further details to be finalised closer to the car’s launch date in Q2.

Mercedes-AMG SL

Mercedes-Benz’s iconic SL roadster returns, now as a fully-fledged AMG model. For the first time, the SL is a 2+2, with two (tiny) rear seats, and there are two variants available at launch. The SL43, which retails for S$745,888 with COE, gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 381hp, while the top-rung SL 55, which goes for S$867,888 with COE, features a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo with 476hp. Subaru WRX

Subaru’s WRX sports car makes its return, featuring a new 2.4-litre boxer engine that produces an impressive 275hp and 350Nm of torque. The WRX will be offered in both sedan and wagon variants, and pricing stands at S$246,800 for the former, and S$256,800 for the latter. Interestingly there is also a tS sports package, which adds in adaptive sports suspension and an STI styling kit, and costs an additional 10 grand over the regular WRX models.
