Shell has partnered with BMW Group Asia to offer three years worth of free charging for new owners of BMW and Mini EVs and PHEVs in Singapore

SINGAPORE

Shell and BMW Group Asia have announced a partnership which will see new owners of BMW and Mini electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) enjoy three years worth of free charging at Shell’s public chargers in Singapore.

The Shell Recharge Complimentary Package is available to all customers who purchase a new BMW or Mini EV or PHEV. The package offers two options, with the public charging option giving owners free charging, up to 10,000kWh, at Shell Recharge public charging stations for the first three years of car ownership. Those who opt for the free charging at Shell Recharge will also receive complimentary Shell Car Wash services.

Alternatively, owners can also opt for the private charging option, whereby Shell will provide comprehensive home charging installation services at their private residences. This service includes site surveying, the provision of an EV charging wall box, and installation of the charger. Owners who opt for the private charging option will not be entitled to the free public charging credits.

Shell and BMW hope that the tie-up will encourage a greater take-up of EVs in Singapore, by offering greater convenience and accessibility to charging options. Mr Doong Shiwen, General Manager of Shell Mobility Singapore. adds that, “We aim to expand our charging network in the coming years to cater to a growing number of EVs on Singapore roads, starting with having Shell Recharge chargers at half of our service stations by 2022.”
