Polestar’s latest coupé-SUV will make its debut on the 18th of April 2023 at the Shanghai Auto Show

GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN

The final piece of the Polestar puzzle will soon be unveiled. The Polestar 4, the brand’s latest coupe-SUV, is slated to make its debut on the 18th of April 2023 at the Shanghai Auto Show.

The Polestar 4 is the latest model in Polestar’s existing and upcoming lineup to be unveiled, and it’ll make its debut alongside the Polestar 3 SUV and facelifted Polestar 2 this time next week in China. Here in Singapore, we should expect the Polestar 4 to arrive by the end of 2024.

Details on the Polestar 4 are scarce at the moment, but we know that it’ll be a coupé-SUV that borrows design and sustainability elements from Polestar’s concept vehicles. We’re also told that it’ll be the brand’s fastest vehicle when it enters production. Quicker than the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack and quicker than the Polestar 3.

“Polestar 4 is not simply a modified version of our first SUV,” says Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, “Instead, we reconsidered the entire design to create a new breed of SUV coupé.”

If you’ve read our launch story of the Polestar 3 late last year, you’ll know that the brand’s upcoming SUV is the brand’s luxury offering that has its sights set on tackling its Germanic competition like the iX, EQE and upcoming all-electric Cayenne.

On that basis, we should expect to see the Polestar 4 use a similar dual-motor powertrain that’s put to use in the Polestar 3. Perhaps it’ll be more aerodynamic or have even more power than the Polestar 3 LRDM Performance Pack’s 510hp/910Nm output to claim the title of being the fastest Polestar vehicle.

That is until the Polestar 5 (the brand’s electric four-door GT) takes the throne when it’s launched in 2024. Of course, that performance is contingent on the Swedish outfit’s ability to endow the Polestar 5 with its intended 884 horsepower and 900Nm combined output.

If the Polestar 5 prototype’s run up the Goodwood hillclimb is anything to go by, we’d be expecting some great things indeed.
