Lamborghini’s satellite city-centre showroom debuts with the new convertible Huracan Spyder

SINGAPORE — Luxury Italian sports car brand, Lamborghini, has opened a new showroom in Suntec City today and also debuted a new convertible model of its Huracan sportscar. 

President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann, was at the opening today at Lambo Singapore’s second home at Suntec City.

“The Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder is the next chapter in the success story of the naturally aspirated V10 Huracan, and continues Lamborghini’s tradition of open air motoring,” says Winkelmann.

A naturally-aspirated V10 engine powers the Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder. It produces 610 horsepower, can race from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 324km/h.

With the top down, the rear deck lid features two long fins that stretch from right behind the passenger compartment to the rear fascia, a styling cue that helps differentiate the Spyder from its coupe counterpart.

The interior is largely carried over from the Huracan coupe, though the Spyder boasts innovative ducts that reduce air turbulence in the cockpit, as well as removable lateral wind guards that lets sun-worshipers have a conversation even with the top down.

Built out of a weight-saving combination of aluminium and carbon fiber, the Huracan Spyder’s chassis is 40 per cent stiffer than that of its predecessor, the Gallardo Spyder. A fully flat underbody and a large air diffuser built into the rear bumper highlight the efforts that Lamborghini went through to make its newest convertible as aerodynamic as possible.

Lamborghini has also naturally brought over the naturally-aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine from the coupe that makes 610 horsepower at 8,250rpm and 560Nm of torque. Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, all ten-cylinders act on all four wheels and propels this 1,542kg (dry) machine from 0 to 100 in just 3.4 seconds, and onto its top speed of 324km/h.

The Huracan Spyder’s CO2 emissions have been reduced by 14 percent (290g/km) as compared to the Gallardo despite its increase in performance. “The Gallardo Spyder was the best-selling open top model in Lamborghini’s history and we expect the Huracan Spyder to exceed its predecessor in every way,” says Winkelmann.
