The company claims its first flagship store will be a one-stop service centre for all dash cam-related matters

IT company Thinkware has announced the arrival of its first premium flagship store here, with its official opening ceremony set for 25 September. 

Located at First Centre, 50 Serangoon North Ave 4 #01-22, the company describes the store as a “dedicated one-stop service centre for all dash cam-related matters”, and will be able to provide after-sales support in the form of troubleshooting, warranty services, dash cam maintenance, as well as repairs.

In addition to these services, the store will have a retail element where customers can have a look at supplementary smart car accessories such as smart car alarm systems, Apple CarPlay head units, and of course, dash cams.

The highlights at the store are Thinkware’s new top-of-the-line dash cams, the U1000 (top image) and X700 .

Both can be connected to the cloud, which means that, via an app, users can remotely access footage, check a real-time snapshot of the camera’s view, turn off the camera to save the car’s battery, find the car’s last-parked location, and even receive push notifications if the camera detects an impact.

Both cameras also come with a road safety system, which includes forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and front vehicle departure warning, all of which are useful active safety systems, but which are currently pricey options on brand new cars. These cameras enable such safety technology to be available to drivers of older or lower end cars. 

Additionally, the U1000 also comes with built-in GPS, is capable of recording in 4K Ultra HD resolution, has an energy saving mode (up to 24 days on standby), optional radar motion detector (camera wakes itself if it detects a moving object, and recording the preceding and succeeding 20 seconds if an impact occurs), geo fencing (receive a notification if the vehicle is driven in or out of a certain area), and a “strong impact” notification (alerts family or other selected users and saves a recording when a crash occurs, in case the driver is incapacitated).

The Thinkware U1000 is available for S$829.90, including surveillance cable for overnight recording, and 64GB SD card, while the X700 is priced at S$439.90 without accessories.
