Red Bull has entered the racing simulator industry with a new rig based on the RB18, which won the Formula One World Championship in 2022.

The rig, officially known as the “2022 Oracle Red Bull Racing RB18 Show Car Simulator,” is constructed of carbon fibre and is the front half of a 1:1 scale Red Bull RB18 display vehicle.

The Race Edition is listed at £74,999 (S$122,397.99) with the Champions Edition hitting £99,999(S$163,197.86). And that’s before shipping, which is £500(S$816) to locations in the UK and £16,500 (S$26,927.92) plus taxes.

The Champions Edition has a complete nosecone and front wing assembly above the Race Edition, and each is available in either the #1 Max Verstappen livery or the #11 Sergio Perez livery. Each rig is marked with a unique plaque.

It’s built by specialist memorabilia brand Memento Exclusives, which also works on the real thing. The company, founded by ex-Honda Racing F1 lead mechanic Barry Gough, built the full-size show cars for Alfa Romeo in 2022 and 2023 and makes the driving simulator rig from Red Bull’s own CAD data.

The setup is more than 13 feet long (3.9m) and more than four feet (1.21m) broad (more than six feet if you pick the Champions Edition), with a height of roughly four feet due to the extra-wide, curved AOC gaming monitor mounted on the nose. The complete setup weighs more than 160kg, so once you’ve found a decent spot for it, you’re unlikely to move it again. Furthermore, there are no simulator games or software bundled with the whole setup. You’re essentially buying a very, very expensive game controller into which you must plug in your own PC and run your own software.

If you can afford it, the RB18 rigs are now available only through the official F1 memorabilia site F1 Authentics, which is managed under licence by Memento Exclusives, with initial deliveries scheduled in April.

“Driving a Formula 1 car is something most of us can only dream of, but this simulator is as close as it gets to the real thing. Memento Exclusives have recreated the car to bring the track into your home,” said Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner.
