Shell and Porsche Asia Pacific launch 360kW high-performance charger in Bangkok

The DC fast-charger in Bang Yai marks the first of 11 planned for Thailand.

BANGKOK, THAILAND

Porsche Asia Pacific and Shell have launched its first Shell High Performance Charging (HPC) site in Bang Yai, Bangkok. This HPC site is the first of 11 planned for Thailand, and is part of Shell’s larger HPC Singapore-to-Bangkok EV network.

The network was previously announced in March 2021 and will span the entire North-South highway of Malaysia. In January of 2022 the first station was unveiled in Tangkak, Johor. Porsche Singapore also has plans for the largest manufacturer-branded charge network in Singapore. In Thailand however, the network aims to be operations ready by the first half of 2023.

“Today’s launch reinforces our successful partnership with Porsche and extends our growing HPC network through Singapore, Malaysia, to Thailand, to increasingly help EV drivers to charge wherever they need to. Shell is determined to play a vital role in the energy transition through decarbonising mobility, by collaborating with our partners and customers,” shares Amr Adel, Senior Vice President for Shell Mobility Asia.

AC or DC, here’s where you can charge your EV in Singapore

All 11 HPC stations in Thailand will be fitted with 180kW DC fast-chargers, and two out of the 11 stations will also have a whopping 360kW DC fast-chargers – the fastest in the country. These will allow for emission-free travel from the southern province of Songkhla to the northern province of Chiang Mai.

Could the EQS take the Shell x Porsche EV network?

With 180kW charging, a Porsche Taycan can go from 0 to 80-percent in 30 minutes, providing up to 390km of range. At 270kW, the maximum rate that a Taycan can be charged, this is reduced to 22 minutes.

New Taycan owners in Thailand will also receive a complimentary Premium membership for three years, inclusive of the following benefits:

50-percent off Pay-Per-Use (PPU) rate,
Complimentary pre-reservation up to one hour,
10,000 Shell GO+ points.

All electric vehicle owners in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand will also be able to use the Shell HPC Network via a PPU rate, or subscribe to a membership plan.
