The updated Polestar 2 has now arrived in Singapore, featuring greater efficiency and performance; pricing starts from S$196,000 without COE

The Polestar 2 has received a mid-life update, and the upgraded version of Polestar’s Tesla fighter is now available in Singapore. The car features a series of updates that now offers increased range, greater efficiency and improved performance, and pricing starts at S$196,000 excluding COE.

The updated Polestar 2 will first be made available in Long Range Dual Motor form with the Performance Pack, and in this iteration will deliver 476hp and 740Nm of torque, a significant increase from the pre-updated car’s numbers of 408hp and 660Nm of torque. 0-100km/h now comes down to 4.2 seconds, from 4.7 second previously, but top speed remains at 205km/h.

In terms of range and efficiency, Polestar now claims that the updated 2 can now travel up to 568km on a full charge for the Long Range Dual Motor variant, which is a jump of nearly 200km over the pre-updated car which had a claimed range of 358km. This comes as a result of the larger 79kWh battery, up from 75kWh previously, and claimed efficiency is quoted as around 17kWh/100km, an improvement from the pre-facelifted car’s 21kWh/100km.

Cosmetically, the updated Polestar 2 offers few differences over the outgoing model. The most obvious spot is the revised ‘grille’ design, which Polestar now calls the SmartZone, and features a smooth body-coloured panel that incorporates the front-facing active safety cameras and radar, replacing the previous version’s black grid pattern ‘grille’.

The car also gets new wheel designs, with the Performance Pack now getting 20-inch forged alloy performance wheels which Polestar says has been uniquely designed for the car. It also adds that the standard suspension has been tuned for greater refinement and comfort, though the optional Ohlins Dual Flow Valve manually-adjustable dampers are also available for the Performance Pack.

For now, the updated Polestar 2 will be offered in Long Range Dual Motor form, but the end of the year will see the arrival of the Standard Range Single Motor Rear Wheel Drive variant, which is a major change from the pre-facelifted version of the same car which was front-wheel-driven. The Standard Range Single Motor RWD Polestar 2 is expected to be launched here by the end of 2023.
