Wicked Wallop 2020: New bikes, famous names

Motorcycle lifestyle festival sees major bike launches, international names and performances, and plenty to see and do for bikers

SINGAPORE –
The Wicked Wallop, one of Singapore’s biggest motorcycle/automotive lifestyle events, kicked off at 1000h today at Carros Centre, 60 Jalan Lam Huat and ends at 2300h tonight.

We’ve covered previous iterations here in CarBuyer – 2018 and 2019 – and it’s hard to sum up the Wicked Wallop in one phrase.

The core of the event is motorcycle lifestyle, with its main target audience being riders, and main event sponsors/participants including BMW Motorrad, Mah Pte Ltd (Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Triumph, Vespa, and more) , Harley-Davidson of Singapore, KTM Dirt Wheel.

However it also has appeal to fans of the ‘non-mainstream’ automotive segment, which means custom bikes and cars, hot rods, classic cars, and more.

This year marked the first time Wicked Wallop is tying up with the Hard Rock Cafe as well, with food and beverage from the classic rock-themed restaurant chain available at the festival.

In bike news, this year saw the debut of three new models from Boon Siew Honda, the official distributor of Honda motorcycles in Singapore, which was present at the show for the first time.

It previewed the PCX 150 scooter, the CRF 1100L African Twin adventure bike (above), and CBR 650R sports bike.

Triumph displayed the all-new version of its massive performance cruiser, the Rocket III.

BMW Motorrad also previewed two ‘secret’ models – you’ll have to go down in person to find out what they are.

The traditional convoy made up of motorcycles, cars, and bikes of all vintages, shapes, sizes and brands kicked off the proceedings at 11:00am

The Wallop also held its yearly custom competition, with bikes, bicycles, cars.

This year saw the participation of some internationally-recognised judges – Winston Yeh, the founder of Taiwanese motorcycle customiser Rough Crafts was one of them (pictured above).

Shige Suganuma (above in white shirt), the owner of Moon Eyes, the American hot-rod and custom company now based in Japan, as well as representatives from shows in the region including Kustomfest Indonesia, Art Of Speed Malaysia, and KL Bike Week Malaysia.
