Aston Martin unveils the new Vantage, just a year after introducing the DB12 Coupe and Volante. The ultra-luxury grand tourer which traces its lineage back to 1950, when the Vantage moniker was first used to denote an uprated engine package for the DB2, is directly developed from the Vantage GT3 challenger.

The new generation grand tourer receives a major restyling, and now features a larger recontoured veined grill aperture, which visually gives the new Vantage a wider and lower stance. The larger grille offers a 29-percent increase in mass airflow to cope with cooling the uprated Mercedes-AMG-sourced twin-turbocharged V8. All-new Matrix LED headlamp design with integrated DRLs, feature Aston Martin’s new light signature. The iconic side strake also makes a return, steering the design of the Vantage’s side profile to what is traditionally more “Aston Martin”.

Standard-fit on the Vantage are new larger staggered format 21-inch forged alloy wheels, which Aston Martin say are collectively 8kg lighter than the 20-inch rims offered on the previous car. A 30mm wider track also hints of the Vantage’s improved handling.

A vastly improved interior is a welcome change for the Vantage. The chevron-shaped push-button drive-selector console makes way for a more logical and visually appealing gear shift tab. The new 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen which is also more seamlessly integrated into the centre stack, supports multi-finger gesture control. Aston Martin also says that they have significantly improved on the system’s response. Audio is taken care of by an immersive 15-speaker, double-amplified 1,170W surround sound system, that includes Aluminium Double Dome tweeters and Continuum midrange speakers, bolstered by dedicated 3D headline speakers and a subwoofer.

The Mercedes-AMG sourced twin-turbocharged V8 has been reworked, and now puts out 656hp and a massive 800Nm, a significant jump of 153hp and 116Nm. This is thanks to the inclusion of larger turbochargers, modified cam profiles, and that improved cooling system specially designed to efficiently dump heat. All of this is mated to the industry favourite robust ZF8HP transmission. Aston Martin claims a top speed of 202mph and a 0-60mph timing of 3.4 seconds. All of this is transferred onto asphalt, via ‘AML’ coded Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tyres made specifically for the Vantage, with sizes of 275/35 R21 (103Y) front and 325/30 R21 (108Y) rear. Stopping power is supplied by cast-iron 400mm front discs and 360mm rear discs with drilled faces. Customers can opt for higher-performing Carbon Ceramic Brakes (CCB).

The Aston Martin Vantage is available in 21 colours, and clients can choose to add a Pinstripe, Pinstripe and Lipstick or Pinstripe, Lipstick and Rear infill to further customise their vehicles.

“Aston Martin is blessed with many evocative model names, but none conjure excitement and dynamism like Vantage. To capture the new car’s huge uplift in power and performance we have accentuated its physique, increasing its muscularity and sharpening its sculptural form. We took some inspiration from the One-77 supercar, but we wanted Vantage to express its intent and potency more explicitly. One look and you know it packs a real punch, but there’s an elegance of form and proportion that hints at the sophistication that underpins its raw power. This balance of instant visual impact and slow-burn charisma mirrors the driving experience and perfectly captures the essence of Vantage” said Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer.

Beyond the production of automobiles, the storied British automaker has also ventured into property, recently completing their first real estate project, Aston Martin Residences Miami – a 66-storey development, located where the Miami River meets Biscayne Bay.
