McLaren Artura Spider unveiled in Singapore

McLaren embraces open-top thrills with the new Artura Spider!

SINGAPORE

McLaren embarks on a new era with the debut of its first high-performance hybrid convertible supercar, marking the dawn of an exciting chapter for the iconic automotive brand. The Artura Spider epitomises driving pleasure, blending seamlessly with the convertible lifestyle while delivering unmatched performance.

The roof of the Artura Spider can retract at up to speeds of 50km/h, and it does this in all of 11 seconds. Equipped with a plug-in hybrid twin-turbocharged V6 engine and an e-motor, it boasts 690 Hp and 720 Nm. Like its coupe sibling, the Artura Spider reaches 0-100km/h in 3 seconds; this is even with the added heft of additional enhancements to keep the chassis of the convertible McLaren rigid. Four drive modes are available: Sport, Track, Comfort, and Electric (emission-free), which allows you to transition effortlessly from spirited driving to one which is civilised for daily transit. Buyers can opt for an electrochromic glass roof, which allows the driver to switch from a clear roof to an opaque one, all with a touch of a button.

McLaren also says that the Artura Spider features revised transmission calibration, which improves gearshift response by 25-percent. An improved Proactive Damping Control system is able to react up to 90-percent quicker than the Coupe, when it was first launched.

To keep things cool, aerothermal efficiency is maximised with the use of four distinct ducting systems, improving engine cooling airflow and heat extraction. The glazed polycarbonate pillars on the Artura Spider also improves rear visibility and does the job of channelling airflow into the engine bay.

McLaren has also added a showboating feature, which they call ‘’Spinning Wheel Pull-Away,’’ which facilitates dramatic wheelspin when accelerating from a standstill. Apart from the performance, McLaren also says that they have tweaked the valved exhaust system, which includes a tuned resonator.The result is a cleaner sound in the mid to high rev spectrum.

We also learn that there is good news for existing Artura Coupe owners. McLaren Singapore is offering a free additional 20hp engine performance upgrade.

Prices for the brand new McLaren Artura Spider start at SGD$1.3 million, excluding COE and options. Deliveries for Singapore are expected in Q4 2024.
