You can buy the 1,914 horsepower Rimac Nevera from Wearnes Automotive, if you have the S$3 million to shell out for it.

The Rimac Nevera’s headline power output, acceleration times and top speed figures are the stuff of automotive dreams and fantasy. In today’s context, it is the definitive EV hypercar that rubs shoulders among the upper echelon coterie of ultra-exotic marques like Bugatti, Pagani and Koenigsegg.

However, it does come at a cost. At the time of writing, each Nevera will set buyers back a cool €2 million (roughly S$2.9 million) before options.

That being said, if you’re the sort of car buyer with an insatiable need for raw speed and unbridled power, the Rimac Nevera might just be the car for you if you have the stomach (and deep pockets) for it.

With 1,914 horsepower and 2,360Nm of torque, it is among the most powerful production cars in the world – and the most powerful production electric vehicle to date. With a century sprint time of 1.82 seconds and a quarter mile time of 8.25 seconds, it is among the fastest-accelerating production cars in the world.

To top it all off, the Nevera’s 412km/h top speed makes it the fastest production EV in the world.

The Nevera’s peak 1,914 horsepower figure comes courtesy of four electric motors in the drivetrain, one for each wheel. The car’s carbon fibre monocoque core integrates the car’s 120kWh battery pack which gives the car a maximum range of 490km (WLTP), but also accepts a maximum charge rate of 500kW under DC charging.

To keep all that monstrous power in check, the Nevera has a unique torque vectoring system that calculates the amount of torque that should be dispensed to each wheel 100 times a second. The R-AWTV (Rimac All wheel Torque Vectoring system) even has a Drift mode which delivers more torque to the rear wheels and manages oversteer for a sustained drift – at the expense of racking up severe tyre replacement costs.

However, it’s not all smoking tyres and straight-line speeds that the Rimac Nevera can manage. The Nevera holds the records for a production EV on the Goodwood hill climb and the EV lap record at the Nurburgring, completing the green hell in just 7:05.298.

Lest we forget, Rimac is a relatively new entrant into the car industry having started out in 2009 with just three employees – including Croatian inventor and entrepreneur Mate Rimac, the man behind the brand.

Today, Rimac’s headcount has expanded to over 2000 employees and the company is in the midst of completing a new campus that encompasses a test track. The brand has also entered a joint venture with French hypercar manufacturer Bugatti to form Bugatti Rimac.

The Rimac Nevera is available for purchase through local Rimac authorised dealer Wearnes Automotive. Only 150 units of the Nevera will be made, but all examples won’t be subjected to local on-the-road taxes as it is only available as a left-hand drive vehicle.

So you can’t legally take it on the road. But that’s unlikely to stop prospective buyers. According to a spokesperson at Wearnes, there are already several interested parties. Care to join the club?
