Deliveries of ZEEKR EVs are slated to begin in Q3 2024 with Premium Automobiles being the sole distributor of the Geely-owned marque in Singapore.

Chinese carmaker ZEEKR is making headway into Singapore sometime in the third quarter of 2024. Touted as a luxury electric vehicle manufacturer under Geely Holding Group’s portfolio, the Chinese conglomerate has appointed local AD Premium Automobiles (who are the distributors for Audi vehicles in Singapore) to be its Singaporean distributor.

Among the brands under the Geely umbrella (which includes Volvo, Polestar, Lotus and Proton), ZEEKR is a relatively new marque that was founded in 2021 as a premium EV manufacturer. 

To date, the brand has four vehicles, all of which are built upon Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform. The SEA platform also underpins the Lotus Eletre SUV, the upcoming Polestar 4 and Volvo EX30 – all of which should come as no surprise given their shared Geely roots. 

What will come as a surprise is the fact that ZEEKR, despite being headquartered in Zhejiang China, has already established its R&D and global design centre in Gothenburg, Sweden – the same home base as both Volvo and Polestar.

According to Premium Automobiles, a new ZEEKR showroom (which the brand calls a “ZEEKR House”) will be established along the Leng Kee automotive belt with a service centre located in UBi. Following that, the brand will introduce two models to the Singaporean market; The ZEEKR 009 MPV and the ZEEKR X SUV.

ZEEKR 009

The ZEEKR 009 is an all-electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) built upon Geely’s SEA1 architecture, which it shares with the Polestar 4, Polestar 5, Volvo EM90 and ZEEKR’s first production vehicle, the ZEEKR 001. Positioned as a luxury MPV, the 5.2m long vehicle boasts a 3,205mm long wheelbase that accommodates six seats with two first-class airline seats in the middle row.

According to ZEEKR, the flagship variant of the 009 will be fitted with a 140kWh battery pack and a dual motor powertrain that generates 544 horsepower (400kW), which gives the Zeekr 009 a 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.5 seconds. The 009 can also manage 822km of range on a single charge on the Chinese Light Duty vehicle test cycle (CLTC), but WLTP figures may vary.

ZEEKR X

The ZEEKR X is a compact luxury EV SUV with dimensions similar to that of the BMW iX1 or the Mercedes EQA. The car is very closely related to the upcoming Volvo EX30, sharing the same SEA2 platform as the Swedish offering.

The ZEEKR X will come with a 66kWh battery that should provide up to 440km of range in its RWD trim. But the AWD model boasts a peak power output of 428 horsepower (315kW) and a 0-100km/h time of 3.8 seconds.

No word yet on the exact model variations of the ZEEKR 009 and ZEEKR X bound for Singapore, or the prices for both vehicles when they eventually make it to Singapore. But the fluid landscape for EVs in Singapore will no doubt be shaken up when ZEEKR makes landfall.
