New swoopy version of the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV is now available in Singapore; GLC 300 Coupe AMG Line starts at S$440,888 with COE

SINGAPORE

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the new GLC Coupe, the swoopy version of the GLC SUV, to Singapore. Prices start at S$440,888 with COE for the GLC 300 Coupe AMG Line, which will be on display at Vivocity from 30 September to 8 October, while a plug-in hybrid version, the GLC 300e Coupe AMG Line, will also be made available shortly.

Like the name suggests, the GLC Coupe is a sleeker and sportier looking version of the GLC SUV that was launched here in Singapore a few months ago. The key design difference is the sloping rear roofline that leads to the stubby rear end, in contrast with the standard SUV-style look of the regular GLC. Otherwise, the cars are fundamentally similar, with the GLC Coupe featuring the AMG Line kits as standard that includes 20-inch alloy wheels and a chrome package.

Similarly, the interior remains unchanged, with the vertical-set 11.9-inch angled central display also present here, along with the 12.3-inch digital driver display. Aside from the curved roofline, another difference between the GLC Coupe and regular GLC SUV is the optional panoramic sunroof, which is longer on the Coupe model by 6cm.

Compared to its predecessor, the new GLC Coupe is bigger all round, with the new model some 31mm longer and 5mm higher. The track widths are also wider, by 6mm at the front and 23mm at the rear, and Mercedes-Benz says that this results in greater interior room all round. Boot space has also increased, by 45 litres to 545 litres with the rear seats up, and by 90 litres to 1,490 litres with the rear seats folded down.

Like the standard GLC 300 SUV, the GLC 300 Coupe is powered by a 2.0-litre powertrain that produces 258hp and 400Nm of torque, and comes with a 48-volt mild hybrid system that provides an additional electric boost of 23hp and 200Nm of torque. 0-100km/h comes up in 6.3 seconds, and top speed is rated at 246km/h, with a claimed average fuel consumption figure of 7.8L/100km.

Standard equipment on the GLC 300 Coupe AMG Line includes wireless phone charging, heated seats, and the Driver Assistance Plus package of safety features that include adaptive cruise control, collision warning and brake assist. There is also a Parking package that includes a 360 degree camera, as well as parking assistance.

“The new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé is the perfect combination of elegance and adventure, helped on by an electrified drivetrain to offer consumers exhilarating journeys, while keeping the environment in mind. The application of Mercedes-Benz’ latest technologies in driving, comfort, and connectivity ensures a captivating ownership experience,” said Claudius Steinhoff, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Singapore. “The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé is one of the most compelling products that we offer at this time, and we look forward to seeing the first units on our roads,” he added.
