Rolls-Royce’s first electric vehicle, the Spectre, has been officially launched in Singapore; priced at S$2,138,888 without COE and sold out until 2025

SINGAPORE

Rolls-Royce’s first electric vehicle, the Spectre, was launched in Singapore on 22 August 2023, at an event held at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre. The event also marked the Spectre’s South East Asian debut, and the car will be subsequently touring the other countries around the region.

Locally, the Spectre retails for S$2,138,888 without COE, but despite the hefty price tag, Rolls-Royce says that they have already received a ‘good number’ of local orders, and that the allocation until the end of 2024 has already been sold out. First local deliveries will begin from the end of this year, and if you order one now, the earliest you can get your Spectre will be in 2025.

As previously reported, the Spectre is Rolls-Royce’s first fully electric production model, and sits atop of the range as the brand’s flagship model. Rolls-Royce says that the car is the spiritual successor to the Phantom Coupe, and was designed to be a ‘Rolls-Royce first, electric car second’.

The car sits on the all-aluminium Architecture of Luxury platform that also underpins the current range of other Rolls-Royce cars like the Phantom and Cullinan, and which Rolls-Royce claims is scalable and designed to accommodate an electric drivetrain from the outset. The 700kg battery is integrated into the architecture, and also serves as additional acoustic insulation.

Power comes from two electric motors, with the one in front producing 255hp and 365Nm of torque, and the rear motor developing 483hp and 710Nm of torque. The combined output of the Spectre stands at 584hp and 900Nm of torque, and allows the car to go from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds. Range is rated at 530km when fully charged, and the car can takes 34 minutes to go from 10 to 80 percent charge using a 195kW DC charger.

The Spectre is also Rolls-Royce’s most technologically-advanced car ever, and comes with a new digital architecture called Spirit, which is compatible and integrated with Rolls-Royce’s Whispers app. This allows owners to interact with the car remotely via the app and connect to live information services as required. The Spirit architecture also opens up an almost-limitless range of customisation options, like selecting the colour of the instrument dials to complement the car’s interior palette or exterior finish for example.

The Spectre marks the first step towards electrification for the brand, with the company set to go fully electric by 2030. This means that the future replacements for its Ghost, Phantom and Cullinan models are expected to be full electric vehicles as well, with the eventual phasing out of its legendary V12 engine.
