Range Rover launches the third-generation luxury SUV in Singapore with prices starting from S$598,999

The new Range Rover Sport has officially arrived in Singapore. It will be available in SE, HSE and Autobiography trim variants. We had a first look of the Range Rover Sport when CarBuyer’s own Kimberley flew all the way to Dubai sometime last year.

The Range Rover Sport range is launched here with a twincharged, 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine with mild-hybrid technology. There’s 400 horsepower on tap, and despite weighing a chunky 2,385kg it rockets from 0 to 100km/h 5.7 seconds.

 A V8 twin turbo and plug-in hybrid set to join the lineup in 2024, and an all-electric version of the car has been confirmed for series production as well.

Upfront, you can see the new sporty SUV boasting short overhangs, an assertive front end and a steeply raked set of windows at the front and back. These trademark elements provide a “strong and imposing road presence that communicates power and performance”, according to the brand.

You also get a stealth-like front grille and digital LEDs that are sculpted above the double-aperture lower bumper enhanced by black detailing. From the back, there is no mistaking this is a Range Rover with the sculpted tailgate bearing the Range Rover script and the longest spoiler ever fitted onto a Range Rover to date.

Built on Land Rover’s new MLA-Flex platform, the Range Rover Sport offers an all-new interior, which, like its sibling, the recently-launched ‘standard’ Range Rover, features the trademark Range Rover Command Driving Position.

You also get integrated audio speakers, developed with Meridian and hidden behind the textile of the rear doors offering a clean, aesthetically pleasing finish.

From the cockpit, the Pivi Pro infotainment features a high-resolution floating 13.1-inch curved touch screen at the centre of the dashboard, controlling everything from navigation to media, and vehicle settings.

The car is fully capable of serious off-road driving as the adjustable drive modes come straight out of the Land Rover Defender. The Range Rover Sport gets the added bonus of adjustable air suspension, which gives the car the ability to roll on three different ride heights and a super-low access height for getting in easily.

The Pivi Pro screen is complemented by a 13.7-inch interactive driver display, with high-definition graphics with a reconfigurable layout.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Wireless Android Auto are both fitted as standard, with a 15W wireless device charger should you need to juice up your mobile phone.

All-wheel steering, torque vectoring by braking and the electronic active differential comes as standard which aims to give the new Range Rover Sport the turning circle of a hatchback and the on-road agility of a much smaller car.

It’s packed with active safety features, with all models fitted with emergency braking, 3D surround camera, front and rear parking sensors, wade sensing, ClearSight Ground View7, manoeuvring lights, adaptive cruise control, driver condition monitor, lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition.

Local dealership Wearnes Automotive has confirmed thank more than 10 were already sold before the official launch today, and the first units are set to be delivered this week. If you want a piece of the action, prices start from S$598,999 with COE for the base model P400 HSE.
