Drivers in Singapore will find the new Shell FuelSave petrol and diesels at Shell service stations in Singapore, formulated to work with current-generation high output engines

SINGAPORE

Shell has launched an updated range for vehicle fuels for drivers in Singapore, promising to give your car improved fuel economy, and leave the engine cleaner than ever. Labelled the Shell FuelSave range, it features across the 95 and 98 octane lineups, diesel and also its V-Power high performance fuel.

As internal combustion engine tech evolves, we are seeing turbocharged, small capacity engines like those found in the new Skoda Octavia and Citroen C5 Aircross becoming the new mainstream, rather than the old-generation 1.6-litre, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engines of before. The researchers from Shell state that the new series of fuel is designed to extract the best from these engines while still being fully compatible and beneficial for previous-generation tech.

We’ve seen plenty of fuel products claiming to be able to clean your car’s engine as it is being driven, and now Shell notes that this next-generation formulation took five years to perfect, and will be able to increase your mileage per tank by up to a further 15km. Given the many different factors that affect every car and driving habits of every individual, we can’t confirm that but the brand urges you to fill up your car and give it a go.

The FuelSave series claims to feature more powerful cleaning agents blended into the fuels to detach carbon deposits stuck to the internals of a car’s engine, and also protects the components from further build-up. The result is quicker acceleration from the more complete burning of fuel and a smoother engine operation because of reduced internal friction.

With fuel injection being pretty much standard across internal combustion engines these days, Shell’s FuelSave has also been formulated to ensure that the fine nozzles of the injector in each engine cylinder does not build up a layer of carbon deposits that robs the engine of efficiency over time. This applies to both diesel and petrol engines.

The brand claims that the cleaning effects of the new fuel can be felt after just one full tank refill, and it  has launched a Mileage Tracker Social Media contest that will run from today until 30th June 2023 for customers. Winners will pick up 15,000 points on their Shell GO+ accounts, equivalent to S$500 in fuel.
